Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
RIVERDALE, N.Y.—The Rider University volleyball continued its hot start to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play with a 3-2 win at Manhattan College on Saturday afternoon.
“We played a good match against the most resilient team in the conference,” said head coach Christopher Feliciano. “They touched everything and with that said we found a way to win an important match on the road.”
Rider improved to 12-9 overall and 7-0 in the MAAC with a 16-25, 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13 victory.
For the Broncs, junior Ryan Ackermann (Ashburn, Va. (Stone Bridge) had 15 kills with freshman Hailey Riede (Haworth/Northern Valley-Demarest) adding 13 kills and five blocks.
“Ackermann played arguably the best match of her collegiate career,” Feliciano said. “When we needed a point, she came through.”
Sophomore Veronica Koval (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) had 28 assists and 19 digs with sophomore Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, Pa. (Merion Mercy Academy) adding 25 digs.
Junior Kaitlyn Griffin (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) had 11 blocks in the match.
This is only the eighth time in 34 matches that Rider has defeated the Jaspers. The teams split the season series in both 2013 and 2014.
Rider travels to New Rochelle, New York for a MAAC match at Iona College on Sunday.
