PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The Rider University volleyball team saw its two-match winning streak snapped as the La Salle University Explorers defeated the Broncs 3-1 on Tuesday evening at Tom Gola Arena.

Rider (2-5) lost 25-23, 25-21, 18-25, 25-17.

“I'm disappointed in our mental preparation,” said head coach Christopher Feliciano.  “We didn't prepare ourselves throughout the course of the day to be ready to win this match.  We need to focus on the little things, the scouting report and overall just the things you need to do to be successful.  There are no shortcuts.”

For the Broncs, sophomore Kaitlyn Griffin (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) had 15 kills with freshman Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) adding 16 digs and three aces.  Aldaya was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Libero of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Brandie Hill (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) added 18 assists for Rider.

Rider and La Salle last met on September 12, 2012 when the Broncs lost 3-2 in Philadelphia.  La Salle leads the all-time series 25-12 in the series that started in 1980.  Rider lost to La Salle 3-2 in Lawrenceville in 2011.  The Explorers defeated Rider 3-0 in Philadelphia to open the 2010 season.

The Broncs open the home portion of the schedule on Wednesday at 7pm against Fairleigh Dickinson at Alumni Gymnasium.  Rider defeated FDU this past weekend, 3-0 at Fordham's Rose Hill Classic.
