BEL AIR, MD—The Broncs managed just two hits in a loss to Delaware Sunday in the third game of the series held at Harford Community College's turf field.

“It's hard to find many positives about today,” said Rider head coach Barry Davis.  “We just didn't play well and got our butts kicked.”

Rider junior Justin Thomas (Richboro, PA/Council Rock South) homered in the seventh inning to get Rider on the board and break up the no-hitter.

Delaware (6-7) broke the game open with four runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-0 lead.

The Blue Hens scored two runs in the first inning on three hits and added a third run in the fifth inning on a pair of singles.

Rider freshman Nick Kagel (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) also singled for Rider.

Rider senior Kyle Kennett (Spring Lake, NJ/St. Rose) started and pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits.  “I thought Kyle threw pretty well,” Davis said.

Rider (3-8) will now play Tuesday against Wagner on Coney Island at MCU Park, the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. “After today it will be good to get back out there as soon as possible,” Davis said.
