Iona won the 2013-14 MAAC regular season and is picked to win the MAAC this year as well. The Gaels (4-3, 0-1 MAAC) were ranked 12th for the second straight week on the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll before losing at Monmouth on Sunday.

Iona defeated Rider three times last year, 80-77 at Rider, 97-81 in New Rochelle and 94-71 in the MAAC playoffs. The last time Rider won in New Rochelle was during the 2010-11 season. Rider and Iona have met 54 times since the series began in 1949-50, with Rider winning 23, including eight of the last 19. Rider is 15-23 vs. Iona since joining the MAAC.
The Broncs (4-5, 1-0 MAAC) defeated Siena 80-68 in Rider's first MAAC game of the season on December 7. In that game Teddy Okereafor compiled 28 points, making all seven of his foul shots, and grabbed nine rebounds. Making his second straight start, graduate student Anthony D'Orazio compiled 12 points, five assists, six rebounds and three steals, his best game as a Bronc after graduating from Lehigh last year.
Following the Iona game Rider returns to non-conference play, traveling to Hartford Saturday evening.
The Broncs are 3-0 at home and return to Alumni Gymnasium December 18 to host Morgan State.
