Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
JERSEY CITY—Trailing two sets to one, the Rider University volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory on the road at Saint Peter's University Saturday afternoon.
"Every win is important," said head coach Christopher Feliciano. "Especially after Wednesday's loss at Manhattan. Road wins are tough but the positive is that we are guaranteed a second consecutive winning season."
Rider (17-12, 10-5 MAAC) won 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-6.
"We came out flat in the second set and that cost us," Feliciano added.
For the Broncs, sophomore Kaitlyn Griffin (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) had 10 kills and attacked .444 while adding four blocks.
Senior Jaclyn Webber (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon) had 12 kills, six digs and three blocks with freshman Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) compiling 17 digs.
Senior Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 30 assists to lead the setters.
Rider and Saint Peter's last met on September 17 when the Broncs won 3-0.
Rider and Saint Peter's met twice last season, both 3-1 Bronc wins. Rider leads the all-time series 23-20 and the Broncs have won 10 matches in a row over the Peacocks.
The Broncs last hit the 17-win plateau in 1994 when Rider went 20-7 and advanced to the NCAA Play-In as the Northeast Conference champions.
Rider travels to Iona on November 12 for a MAAC match at 7pm.
The Broncs complete the home schedule on November 15 (against Siena) and November 16 (against Marist) with both MAAC matches beginning at 1pm.
All 10 teams compete for the MAAC Championship in Florida at Disney's Wide World of Sports November 20-23.
