Rider Hosts Canisius, Niagara This Weekend
LAWRENCEVILLE—The Rider University volleyball team hosts a pair of conference rivals this weekend when the Broncs play Canisius College on Saturday and Niagara University on Sunday, both matches at 1pm in Alumni Gymnasium.
Rider (14-11, 7-4 MAAC) can match its win total from a year ago with a month left in the season with a win on Saturday or Sunday and the Broncs have already surpassed their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win total from a year ago.
Rider is led by senior Jaclyn Webber at 2.63 kills per set, freshman Emma Aldaya with 4.27 digs per set and senior Ashlee Amatulli who is averaging 5.53 assists per set. Amatulli recently became Rider's third all-time leading setter and has 2,568 career assists.
Webber recently picked up career kill 1,000 and she has already surpassed the 1,000 point mark as well as the 1,000 dig plateau.
For the first time ever, Rider swept the Western, New York portion of the schedule, winning at Niagara 3-1 and at Canisius 3-0 at the end of September as the Broncs opened conference play with five straight wins.
This weekend will be the second and third match in a row of a three match home stand. The Broncs enter play having won seven of eight matches in Alumni Gym this season.
