Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
LAWRENCEVILLE—The Rider University women's tennis team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match and hOURglass Rivalry match to Monmouth University on Tuesday afternoon.
For Rider (0-4, 0-2 MAAC), senior Alison Noll (Monmouth Junction, N.J./South Brunswick) won at first singles, 6-2, 6-3 with freshman Danielle Scrudato (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) getting her first collegiate win in convincing fashion 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles.
“We battled,” said head coach Doug Potkay.  “I'm proud that Danielle won her first collegiate match and Alison also played well."
Noll and senior Michelle Caravaglio (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) lost a hard fought match at first doubles 8-6 with Scrudato and sophomore Kerrin Toner (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) losing an even closer match at second doubles, 8-7 with the tie-breaker going 7-5 in the favor of Monmouth in the 15th game.
“Alison and Michelle played extremely well in their doubles match,” Potkay added.  They fought back from a 5-2 deficit before losing 8-6.  Also Kerrin and Michelle played well in their singles matches.  Every game was hard fought and close and could have gone either way."
The Rider men's tennis team is back in action on Wednesday against Wagner beginning at 3pm.
The Bronc women return to action on Saturday at Quinnipiac.
