Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match

LAWRENCEVILLE—Both the Rider University men's and women's tennis teams lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and hOURGlass rivalry match to Saint Peter's University on Sunday afternoon in Lawrenceville.

“I'm proud of the way both teams played today,” said first –year head coach Doug Potkay.  “We came close to pulling out the victory.  All of the matches were hard fought.”

For the Rider men, freshman Chris Popso (Florence) won his first collegiate match with a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles and Bronc rookie Jeremy Van Herwarde (Sussex, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was also a winner at fifth singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

For the Bronc women, senior Alison Noll (Monmouth Junction, N.J./South Brunswick) won 6-2, 6-4 at first singles.

Noll teamed up with senior Michelle Caravaglio (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) for an 8-4 win at first doubles and sophomore Kerrin Toner (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and freshman Danielle Scrudato (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) scored an 8-3 win at second doubles.

The Rider men host St. Francis Brooklyn Tuesday at 3pm.
