Nine Broncs Named MAAC All-Academic
EDISON—Nine members of the Rider University men's and women's tennis teams were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic team it was announced by the conference office.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
From the Rider men's team, senior Ryan Carpenter (Sahuarita, Ariz./Sahuarita), Drew Laverty (Mount Royal/Kingsway Regional), junior Nick Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley), junior Rollie Malfitano (Wenonah/Gloucester Catholic), senior John Spellman (Toms River/Toms River HS South) and junior Sean Sweeney (Franklinville,/Delsea Regional) were recognized.
From the Rider women's team, sophomore Annette Frankowski (Kearny), junior Kim Leder (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) and senior Marly Roche (Sussex/High Point Regional) were honored.
Lubold is an Accounting major with a 3.82 grade point average and Sweeney is also an Accounting major with a 3.74 g.p.a. Laverty is majoring in Secondary Education/History and has a grade point average of 3.62, and Maliftano is a Biology major with a 3.47 g.p.a.
Roche is a Management and Leadership major with a 3.39 grade point average, Spellman is majoring in Management and Leadership and has a 3.32 g.p.a., Frankowski is a Political Science and Accounting dual major with a 3.24 grade point average, Leder is an English major with a 3.24 g.p.a., and Carpenter is a Behavioral Neuroscience major with a 3.24 g.p.a.
This is the third year in a row that Laverty, Roche and Spellman have earned MAAC All-Academic recognition. Carpenter, Lubold, Malfitano and Sweeney earned All-MAAC Academic recognition for the second time.
