15 Broncs Named MAAC All-Academic
BUFFALO, N.Y.--15 members of the Rider University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were recognized Wednesday evening with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic honors it was announced by the conference office, prior to the conference championships.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
From the Rider men's team, the eight student-athletes recognized were seniors Daniel Brady (Turnersville/Gloucester Catholic), Kyle Grosman (Green Pond/Morris Knolls), Kevin Mahana (Toms River/Toms River HS East), Matt Mitchell (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North), Brian Molloy (Toms River/Toms River HS East) and senior Jimmy Sileo (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh), junior Sean Newhouse (Katy, Texas/Morton Ranch) and sophomore Kevin McManus (Sharon, Mass./Sharon).
From the Rider women's team, the seven student-athletes recognized were seniors Stephanie Anderer (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown HS East), Katlyn Andrews (Lawrenceville/Notre Dame), Carly Misiewicz (Vineland/Sacred Heart), junior Danielle Warwick (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) and sophomores Gess Charniga (Kendall Park/South Brunswick), Heather Good (Hillsborough) and Morgan Kandrac (Hamilton/Notre Dame).
Mitchell is an Accounting major with a 3.84 g.p.a., Good is a Biochemistry major with a 3.70 grade point average, Andrews is a Business Administration major with a 3.68 g.p.a., Brady, a Behavioral Neuroscience major has a grade point average of 3.60, Anderer is an Elementary Education/Psychology major with a 3.60 g.p.a., Warwick is a Marketing major with a 3.50 grade point average and Mahana is a Secondary Education/Liberal Arts major with a grade point average of 3.43.
Charniga is an English major with a 3.40 grade point average, Misiewicz is a Secondary Education/Mathematics major with a 3.40 g.p.a., Grosman, is a Business Administration major with a 3.38 grade point average, Molloy is an Actuarial Science major with a g.p.a. of 3.33, Newhouse is a Marketing major with a 3.30 grade point average, Kandrac is a Chemistry major with a 3.20 g.p.a., McManus is a Business Administration major with a 3.20 grade point average and Sileo is a Chemistry major with a 3.20 g.p.a.
A total of 151 student-athletes were recognized across the conference for swimming and diving.
Rider completes at the MAAC championships February 14-16 at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, New York.
The Rider men are the defending MAAC champions with the Bronc women placing runner-up to 13-time champion Marist College in 2012.
