10 Broncs Honored

EDISON--Ten members of the Rider University men's and women's tennis teams earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic honors it was announced by the conference office Friday evening.

For the Rider men, juniors Mike Gershon, Drew Laverty and John Spellman were recognized along with sophomores Nick Lubold, Rollie Malfitano and Sean Sweeney.

For the Rider women, seniors Tricia Ashmore, Allison Clay and Andrea Panno were recognized, along with junior Marly Roche.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. 

Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) is an Accounting major with a 3.87 grade point average, Sweeney (Franklinville/Delsea Regional)  is an Accounting major with a 3.69 g.p.a., Laverty (Mount Royal/Kingsway Regional) is a Secondary Education/History major with a 3.61 grade point average, Malfitano (Wenonah/Gloucester Catholic) is a Biology major with a 3.54 g.p.a., Gershon (East Brunswick) is an Accounting major with a 3.33 grade point average and Spellman (Toms River/Toms River HS South) is a Management/Leadership major with a 3.31 g.p.a.

Ashmore (Sparta) has a 3.89 grade point average and is graduating with a Secondary Education/Biology degree, Clay (East Brunswick) has a 3.77 g.p.a. and will graduate with a Secondary Education/English degree, Panno (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) has a 3.46 grade point average and graduates with a Journalism degree and Roche (Sussex/High Point Regional) is a Management/Leadership major with a 3.23 g.p.a.
