LAWRENCEVILLE-The Broncs lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game to Manhattan Friday afternoon. "Once again we were unable to play well for long stretches," said Rider head coach Charlie Inverso. "This was a tough one because this is one we could have won."

Rider (3-12-1, 2-4-1 MAAC) out-shot Manhattan (3-11-1, 2-4 MAAC) 20-15, including 10-6 in shots on goal. "In the beginning of the game I thought we were good for 30 minutes or so," Inverso said.

But the Broncs could not find the back of the net for the seventh time this year.

The Jaspers scored with 10 minutes left in the first half. "When you give away the first goal and you're a team that doesn't score a lot, now you're chasing the game." Inverso said.  "We had a lot of good attempts. It seemed like they had two and put two away."

Manhattan added an insurance goal with 11:30 remaining in the game.

Rider senior goalkeeper Matt Perrella (North Brunswick, N.J./N. Brunswick) made four saves.

The Broncs won 1-0 at Manhattan last year and had defeated the Jaspers three straight times.

The Broncs own a 9-4-4 advantage in the series that began in 1997.

Rider hosts Saint Peter's Sunday at 12 noon. "We have a lot to play for in our final two games of the regular season," Inverso said.  "We have to do everything right."
