Basketball Players Rider Athletes of Month
Brandon Penn and MyNeshia McKenzie Honored for December
LAWRENCEVILLE-Brandon Penn of the men's basketball team and MyNeshia McKenzie of the women's basketball team have been named the Rider University Athletes of the Month for all competition in December.
Penn, a senior from Philadelphia, PA (Paul Robeson) averaged a team-high 13.1 points per game in December and was second on the team in rebounds with 6.4 per game. In December he made 16 of his 17 foul shots. He was third on the team in assists and steals despite being fourth on the team in minutes played.
McKenzie, a sophomore from Springfield, PA (Springfield-Delco), averaged 10.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game in December, leading Rider to a 5-1 December.
McKenzie had three 'double-doubles' in December and was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week December 12.
For the season, McKenzie leads Rider in scoring (11.4) and rebounding (10.3) and her rebounding average ranks 22nd in the nation and first in the MAAC.
Penn was named the MAAC Player of the Week December 19.
In back-to-back wins on the road in December Penn compiled 46 points and 19 rebounds, and also had a 'double-double' at Stony Brook.
