LOUDONVILLE, NY-The Broncs and Saints played to a scoreless tie in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Sunday afternoon. "We played pretty well," said Rider head coach Charlie Inverso.  "All things considered things were pretty positive today."

Rider (3-12-2, 2-6-1 MAAC) out-shot Siena (4-9-3, 1-5-3 MAAC) 18-15. Siena had five shots on goal to Rider's three. "We had plenty of chances to put it away but weren't able to finish," Inverso said.

Rider junior goalkeeper Matt Perrella (North Brunswick, N.J./N. Brunswick) made five saves. "Matt played very well," Inverso said.  "He had a good game. He made a couple big saves."

Rider lost 4-1 to Siena last season in Lawrenceville.  The last time Rider visited Loudonville the Broncs lost 4-3.

These two teams have now met 17 times since the series began in 1997 with Rider winning five and there have been four ties. The last time Rider defeated Siena was 2004.

"I thought we did some good things today and got a little positive going into the playoffs," Inverso said.

Rider will take part in the 10-team MAAC championship tournament November 3-7 at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

"I think we're ready," Inverso said. "These guys put out a maximum effort every game."

Rider tied Canisius for eighth place and the Broncs will take on the Golden Griffins in the opening round of the MAAC Tournament Thursday at 2pm.

On October 23 Rider led Canisius 1-0 with 2:40 left before the Golden Griffins tied the score and then won it in overtime.

"I'm not sure it matters who we play," Inverso said. 'This league is wide open. We're looking forward to the tournament."
