Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
LOUDONVILLE,N.Y.--The Rider University volleyball team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Siena College on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints won in straight sets 25-19, 25-23, 25-17.
"We couldn't get anything started offensively," said head coach Christopher Feliciano. "Offensively, our passing broke down and Siena dictated the pace and we were unable to recover."
For Rider (4-19, 2-9 MAAC), freshman Ashlee Amatulli (Menifee, Calif./Temecula Valley) had 12 assists and eight digs with junior Stephanie Nagy (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) adding seven kills and four blocks.
Siena out-hit the Broncs .245 to .185.
The match featured 20 ties and 11 lead changes, including 17 ties in the second set.
"While we hit better in the second set, we didn't allow ourselves an equal amount of attempts because our passing was inconsistent," Feliciano added.
The Broncs lost to Siena 3-1 on September 18 in Alumni Gymnasium. Siena swept Rider 3-0 and 3-1 in the two MAAC matches last season and also posted 3-0 and 3-1 wins over the Broncs in 2009. Siena has won 20 of the 23 matches in the series against Rider with the last Bronc win over the Saints in 2004.
Rider has lost eight straight matches.
Rider stays in New York to face Marist College in a MAAC match Sunday at 2pm.
