Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
FAIRFIELD, Conn.-Both the Rider men's and women's tennis teams lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Fairfield Saturday afternoon.
"Fairfield is much more experienced than we are," said head coach Ed Torres. "Both teams are a power house. They are two of the premier teams in the conference."
The Fairfield women are the defending MAAC champions.
For the Rider women, freshman second singles player Marly Roche (Sussex/High Point Regional) and junior fourth singles player Mallory Garbaravage (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands Regional) each won three games before losing in straight sets.
For the Rider men, freshman Drew Laverty (Mount Royal/Kingsway Regional) won three games at fourth singles before losing in straight sets.
"By playing these teams, it shows how far you need to improve," Torres added. "It makes you better for the experience."
The Rider women travel to Lafayette on Tuesday and the men travel to the Bronx to take on Fordham Wednesday afternoon.
