FLUSHING, N.Y.?The Rider University men's and women's tennis teams lost a non-conference match at Division II Queens College Friday afternoon.

“Queens is an excellent team,” said head coach Ed Torres.  “They played on their home court and they just over powered us.”

For the Rider men, sophomore Aaron Goldenthal (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) won five games in the first set of his sixth singles match before losing in straight sets.

Both the men's and women's teams travel to Niagara University on Sunday for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at 10 a.m.

“It was a very good match for us to play right before the indoor match at Niagara on Sunday,” Torres added.  “This was a good tune up in a non-conference match against a quality opponent in an indoor situation.”

Division II team scoring was used with each doubles point counting in the team score for a nine-point match.
