LAWRENCEVILLE—Both the Rider University men's and women's tennis teams lost a non-conference match to Drexel University Tuesday afternoon.

"Drexel was more experienced overall," said head coach Ed Torres.  "Drexel plays a tough tournament type of schedule and that experience showed today."

For the Rider (2-7) men, freshman Milo Milosovici (Florence) won seven games at number five singles before losing 6-4, 6-3.

"Milo is really a good singles player," Torres said.  "He is a serve and volley type of guy who won't rally points.  He has the ability to go in and make short points by being aggressive."

For the Rider (1-5) women, freshman Marly Roche (Sussex/High Point Regional) won four games at second singles with sophomore Allison Clay (East Brunswick) winning four games at number five singles.

"Marly has been our most consistent player this season," said Torres.  "If we didn't have a senior in the number one position, she would be playing it.  I'm pretty sure she will ascend to that position next year.  She is a very good player."

"Allison hits the ball very hard and is picking up her game from last season," Torres added.  "She was a doubles champion for East Brunswick but never really played singles on a competitive level.  She has really improved her singles game."

"Despite Drexel playing a player down on the women's side, they used their experience to beat us," Torres said.  "They made less errors and capitalized on the opportunities that they had.  Drexel may be the best team that we've seen all season and we've seen some pretty good teams."

Also for the Broncs, seniors Will Haight (Sewell/Washington Township) and Marc Ashed (Vineland) had their five-match doubles winning streak snapped with an 8-5 loss.

Both the men and women travel to Mount St. Mary's on Saturday for a non-conference match at noon.
