Rider's Thompson MAAC Defensive Player of Year
BRIDGEPORT, CT?Jason Thompson
of the Rider University basketball team was named the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, it was announced
Thursday night.
A first team All-MAAC selection, Thompson led the MAAC in blocks
(64) and rebounding (9.9) while ranking second in scoring (19.8).
A second team All-District 3 selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Thompson ranks 10th in the nation in rebounding, 29th in scoring and 30th in blocks.
As an All-District 3 selection, Thompson is eligible for All-America consideration.
Thompson and the Broncs are the seventh seed in the MAAC
Championship tournament and will take on the tenth seed, Iona, Friday
night at 10:00 pm in the first round.
