Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
RIVERDALE, N.Y.?The Broncs were swept by the Jaspers in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon. “We finally played like our record,” said head coach Emily Ahlquist. “We came out flat and had no energy.”
Manhattan (4-19, 3-8 MAAC) defeated Rider (1-20, 0-12 MAAC) 30-22, 30-27, 30-18.
For the Broncs, sophomore Shannon Bures (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) had 22 assists with freshman Elyse Grassmuck (Seguin, Texas/La Vernia) adding 22 digs.
“We did not play well from the first point of the match,” Ahlquist added. “Playing two in a row on the road is no excuse. We took a huge step forward against Siena last night and took a huge step backwards today. We were not prepared to play.”
Sophomore Brittany Hayes (Mitchelleville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) had six blocks for Rider.
The Broncs have lost 14 straight and host Fairleigh Dickinson University in a non-conference match Wednesday night at 7:00pm in Alumni Gym.
