JERSEY CITY--In the battle for fourth place and a bye in the first round
of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, Saint Peter's
came back to beat the Broncs Sunday.
Saint
Peter's (16-11, 12-6 MAAC) guard Keydren Clark, the nation's leading scorer, was
held to just eight points in the first half but finished with 28 points, making
14 foul shots.
Rider
(16-13, 10-8 MAAC) led 66-58 before Saint Peter's went on a 10-0 run, eight
points by
Clark
, to take a 68-66 lead with 40 seconds
left.
Junior
Jerry Johnson (Lancaster,
PA/J. P. McCaskey) led the Broncs with 17
points, while junior Steve Castleberry (Mullica Hill/Clearview) scored 14 points
in the first half, finishing with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Rider led 37-34 at the half, and led 61-48 with

left to play.
Saint Peter's went on a 9-0 run, seven by
Clark
, to cut the lead to 61-57 with

Rider will now be the fifth seed, and play the tenth seed, Loyola, in the
first round Friday at

Peter's is now the fourth seed and does not play until Saturday at
