Inverso Completes Staff
LAWRENCEVILLE-Travis Myernick and Jorge Roman have joined the Rider University men's soccer coaching staff, new head coach Charlie Inverso announced.
Myernick comes to Rider from the men's soccer coaching staff at Wake Forest.
"When we were putting together a staff we knew we needed a young, energetic coach to be out on the road and to help develop some of the younger players," Inverso said of Myernick. "Travis was someone who immediately came to mind and I am flattered that he would leave Wake Forest to help us try to move the team forward."
Myernick is a former New Jersey ODP coach who attended Wingate University and originally hails from Denver, Colorado. "His dad (former US National team assistant, the late Glenn "Mooch" Myernick) was one of my closest friends and a great mentor. But that is not why we brought Travis in. He is a sharp, hard working up and coming young coach. A chip off the old block and that's as good of a neighborhood as you can get."
Roman is a former assistant soccer coach at Princeton University who currently works with the USSF Region I Olympic Development Program. He was the NSCAA 2006 East Region Youth Soccer Coach of the Year.
"Jorge has an amazing reputation for being a great soccer coach and teacher from youth level all the way up to working with senior players," Inverso said. "He was very involved with the Princeton University men's soccer program and Princeton Soccer Association with (US National Team Coach) Bob Bradley and later with Jimmy Barlow. His Life Skills Through Soccer is one of the best clubs in the northeast. To have Jorge on our staff gives Rider soccer instant credibility."
Myernick and Roman join Larry Povia on the Rider staff.
