Laird won his second Conference Championship, his first in the MAC, with four-straight decisive wins over competition from Bloomsburg, Buffalo, Edinboro and Ohio. He then went on to win his first three matches of NCAA’s to advance to the National Semifinals, before finishing 6^th to earn All-American recognition. He became Rider’s 17^th different wrestler to claim the Broncs’ 19 NCAA All-America honors.
