Freshman field hockey player Eline De Jong has been named Rider Female Athlete of the Month for August. She was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week following an impressive collegiate debut in which she scored a pair of goals to lead the Broncs past Davidson, 5-1, in the season opener on August 27. De Jong opened the scoring for Rider just under six minutes into the game and added a second tally in the second half. Both of her goals came as she dribbled past the player marking her. De Jong took two shots in the game and converted both of them.
