Steve Morano was hired as Sports Communications Assistant in June of 2026. Morano previously served as an Athletic Communications Assistant for Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland from 2024 to 2026.
While in Emmitsburg, Morano served as the sports information director for several different programs including men’s and women’s water polo, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s rugby, and baseball. During his time at the Mount, Morano aided in several championship at the school, including working at the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Morano also traveled with his teams to the 2025 MAAC Baseball Championships, the 2025 MAAC Women’s Water Polo Championships, the 2025 and 2026 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Championships, and the 2025 Gary Troyer Men’s Water Polo Tournament in Pomona, California.
Morano got his start in the sports world writing for the Mount St. Mary’s student newspaper, The Mountain Echo, covering the school’s basketball teams. He also wrote for the Emmitsburg News-Journal, covering Mount sports for the Frederick County newspaper. In 2023, Morano interned with the Frederick Keys, then apart of the MLB Draft League and the Spire City Ghost Hounds of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, serving as a gameday intern. Morano returned to Frederick in 2024, serving as an official scorer with the Keys until May of 2026. He also joined the staff of the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars of the ALPB as an official scorer in the spring of 2025.
A 2024 graduate of the Mount, Morano graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history while also earning a minor in communications. In 2026, Morano graduated from the Mount again, this time with a master’s degree in sports management. A native of Westminster, Maryland, Morano graduated from Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 2020.
