Rider University Athletics

Karen Vassalluzzo joined the Rider athletic training staff as an assistant athletic trainer in August 2002.  She was promoted to head athletic trainer in January of 2026.  As the head athletic trainer, Karen oversees all aspects of health and wellness for the 19 sports, while serving as the primary athletic trainer for the wrestling program. 

Karen received her Bachelor of Science from University of Rhode Island and continued on to earn her Master of Education in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia.  

Karen's favorite part of being an athletic trainer is caring for the overall physical and mental wellness of the student-athletes and the bond created with her athletes that lasts far beyond their collegiate careers.  Karen resides in Mount Laurel, NJ with her husband Daryl, their three children, Will, Ryan and Sophia, and their two crazy dogs.
