LAWRENCEVILLE—Joshua Russell of Neptune has been hired as an assistant coach of the Rider University track & field team, Rider head coach Bob Hamer announced.
Russell, a 2004 graduate of Wagner College, where he was the Northeast Conference Indoor Performer of the Year, will work with the Rider throwers.
“Coach Russell will do an outstanding job coaching the throwers,” Hamer said. “He was a very accomplished student-athlete in college and he brings a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and competitive experience that will greatly benefit our student-athletes.”
Russell was an NCAA qualifier in the shot put, winning the event at the NEC Championships and the IC4A Championships.
Russell was the Camp Strength and Conditioning Assistant at Wagner before spending a year in the United States Marine Corps.
“I am real excited to have him join the staff,” Hamer said.
Russell joins Dudley Dorival and Shelly Hollingsworth on the Rider track & field coaching staff.
