Dan Mayo returns for his third tour of duty with the Rider wrestling team. Mayo last coached at Rider in 2002-03 and 2003-04, after serving as an assistant coach for six seasons in the 1990s. A two-time All-American and a six-year member of the USA National Team, Mayo was a key to the success Rider enjoyed in the '90s, winning five conference titles in his six years as an assistant coach.
 
A native of Long Island, NY, Mayo was a three-time EWL champion at Penn State University, finishing third in the nation in 1987 and was the national runner-up in 1988. As recently as 1994, Mayo placed third in the United States at 198 pounds in Freestyle wrestling, losing only to the former World Champion, Melvin Douglas, in overtime.
 
A 1989 graduate of Penn State, Mayo earned his master's degree from Penn State while serving as a graduate assistant wrestling coach. At Sachem High School, Mayo was both a New York State Champion and a Junior National Champion.
