Former Bronc Heather Maierle ’17 joined Drayson Hounsome’s staff prior to the 2022 season. The 2016 All-MAAC First Team center back and two-year team captain was a four-year starter for the Broncs, also contributing offensively with five goals and four assists in 72 games played. Three of her goals were game winners.
Maierle rarely left the field, playing 90 or more minutes in 52 of her final 55 matches from her sophomore through senior seasons. A perennial Team MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, she anchored a defense that compiled a program-best nine shutouts in 2015. She was named to the 2014 MAAC All-Tournament Team after leading the Broncs to a win in PK’s in the championship game.
In her first year on Hounsome's staff in 2022, the Broncs earned their 10th-straight MAAC Tournament berth and four Broncs were named All-MAAC. In 2023, Rider made it 11-straight MAAC Tournament bids, with another two All-MAAC honorees.
