Emily Schmitt ’18 joined Drayson Hounsome's staff as an assistant coach in Spring 2022. Schmitt was a four-year starter on the Broncs’ back line from 2014-17, earning All-MAAC First Team as a senior, while also achieving in the classroom as a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree.
“I am really excited to welcome Emily back to Lawrenceville,” said Hounsome. “She was one of the best leaders the program has ever had and bringing her experience to the sideline will be invaluable to the team. Our current players have a coach who has been in their shoes and experienced exactly what they are part of.”
Schmitt earned 2014 MAAC All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman and was a constant at right back over the next two seasons, starting all 35 games and playing 90 or more minutes 29 times during that span. Her performance was recognized by the league’s coaches in her senior season, when she earned All-MAAC First Team honors, while starting all 18 games, including performances of 90 or more minutes in all but one of them. In addition to her defensive efforts, she also added a goal and six assists in her Rider career.
