Collin Zeffer

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Rider University Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach Bob Hamer has announced the addition of Collin Zeffer to the Bronc coaching staff for the upcoming 2019-20 academic year. Zeffer will serve as an assistant coach working with distance and middle distance runners.

"I am very excited to have Collin join our staff," Hamer said. "He brings some great experience from volunteering at Penn the last few years and he has also coached at the high school level. He has a skill set that will be very valuable to the athletes. He also will bring some new ideas and experiences that we can utilize to continue to improve the cross country and track and field programs at Rider."

Most recently, Zeffer served as a volunteer assistant coach at Penn working primarily with men's distance and middle distance runners from November 2016 through July of 2019.

As part of his responsibilities on the Quaker staff, he worked with on-campus recruiting, organizing team transportation and driving the team to meets and practices as well as working with the Director of Operations regarding logistics and operations.

On the Penn staff, he mentored four All-Ivy athletes and five all-region athletes in cross country. Last fall, he also helped guide a pair of runners to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. In indoor and outdoor track, he saw 24 all-ivy athletes under his tutelage as well as four Ivy League Champions.

"I'm very thankful to Coach Hamer for the opportunity to join the Rider Cross Country and Track & Field family," Zeffer noted. "Coach Hamer has set a great standard for tradition for the program and I look forward to working with him and lending my experience to help the distance program reach the next level. These athletes have a great vision of what they want to achieve for themselves and for their team. I'm excited to get to work and help them realize that vision."

Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Zeffer was the Head Girls Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach at Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School in Riverhead, New York. He held the position from 2013-2016 and oversaw all daily training and creating of meet schedules for the team.

He's also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Rolling Thunder Track Club.

Zeffer graduated from the University of Delaware in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts. During his time as an undergraduate, he was also a two-year member of the varsity cross country and track and field teams.
