Anthony SanFilippo

Anthony SanFilippo begins his fifth season on the Bronc track and field staff serving as the throws coach for the program in 2019-2020.

During his time at Rider he has coached athletes to Rider records in the women's weight throw, women's hammer throw and the men's weight throw, hammer throw and javelin.

In 2019 he coached his first NCAA First Round Qualifier as freshman Anthony Ragusa advanced with his Rider record throw of 212'5.  Ragusa went onto earn USATF Junior All-America honors as he finished 4th at the USATF Under 20 championships.  Ragusa also earned All-East Honors with his 2nd place finish at the IC4A Championships.

The 2018-2019 season also saw Rider throwers capture the MAAC Weight throw titles (Ashley Berry and Matt Kraemer) and the women's hammer throw championships (Berry).

During the 2017-2018 school year Ashley Berry captured her 3rd straight MAAC discus title and Karoline Sandvig broke the Rider Weigh Throw record in capturing the MAAC indoor title. She also broke the MAAC meet record in the event.  Sandvig later broke the Rider Hammer Throw record before finishing 2nd in the event at the MAAC Championships.  She earned All-East honors in both the weight throw (4th) and the hammer throw (7th) to cap a great career.

In his second season, he saw throwers collect weekly awards from the MAAC three times and he mentored MAAC Women's Meet Rookie of the Meet Fidele Jules at the 2017 outdoor conference championships. Ashley Berry also captured her 2nd MAAC discus title.

In his first year his athletes made an immediate impact as Ashley Berry captured the indoor and outdoor Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference shot put titles and also captured the outdoor discus title.

He also mentored Joe Clarke to the MAAC javelin title.

SanFilippo is also the founder and head coach of the club team Thrower Nation that routinely develops and trains some of the best throws athletes in the country.

SanFilippo was a Division I track and field athlete and earned his degree from MAAC-rival Monmouth University
