Rider opens the 2026 season away in Staten island against Wagner on Thursday night.
This will be the sixth straight year that the Broncs will open the season against the Seahawks, with Wagner grabbing a late winner in last year's fixture to earn a 1-0 victory against the Broncs in Lawrenceville on August 18.
Rider holds a 9-6-1 record against Wagner dating back to their first meeting in 1997. The Broncs have rounded out eight wins in their last 12 meetings with the Seahawks.
Wagner tallied an overall record of 11-3-6 in 2025 while notching a 8-1-2 in the NEC. Wagner were eventually crowned NEC Champions in November, falling to West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament First Round.
The pair of Alana Goldsmith and Kelly Gallagher return to lead the Seahawks goal threat in 2026. Goldsmith (5G, 4A) and Gallagher (5G, 3A) combine for 27 points in 2025.
The Seahawks grabbed a late winner in Lawrenceville during last year's contest, with Hailey Kapp scoring the game's only goal in the 89^th minute.
The Metro Conference preseason coaches poll slotted the Broncs in eleventh place for the 2026 season.
After finishing the 2025 season with a 3-8-7 record, the Broncs will look to bounce back this fall.
The Broncs return their three highest point setters in Tess Ferrie (3G, 2A, 8 P), Ava Ferrie (3G, 1A, 7P), and Courtney Carter (2G, 4P). Carter will return to the field in 2026 after injury during last year's campaign limited her to only five appearances for Rider.
Bethie Morgan also returns as the team's most senior defender. Morgan started in all 18 games for the Broncs in 2025, recording 1,620 minutes on the pitch.
Leah Marcell also returns for her third year on the Broncs backline. Marcell also started in all 18 games for rider in 2025, logging 1,566 minutes of play.
Along with Morgan, Marcell, and Ava Ferrie, who also started in all 18 games during last year's campaign, Ella Baumgardt and Isis Ovares also return for 2026. Both Ovares and Baumgardt started in all 18 games for Rider in 2025, logging 1,439 and 1,452 minutes respectively.
In goal, Ashley Moore returns for the Broncs. The sophomore goalkeeper recorded 1,428 minutes of play between the sticks while notching 85 saves and six shutouts.
Head Coach Drayson Hounsome enters into his 19^th season at the helm in Lawrenceville, having compiled 129 career wins while leading the Broncs to the 2014 MAAC title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
