LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — In a rematch of the 2025 MAAC Championship Final, Men's Tennis defeated Quinnipiac 5-2 in their final home match of the regular season.
The Broncs had a strong showing in doubles, winning two of the three matches to secure the early point. Matteus Froberg Dahlin and reigning Jersey Mike's MAAC Player of the Week Cole Thurgur combined for a 6-4 win, while Heath Paul Waters and Ibragim Turgambekov won 6-3. The Broncs are now 5-0 in conference when securing the doubles point this season.
Rider went on to secure wins in four of the six singles matches, three of them in straight-sets. Thurgur won his match to extend several of his ongoing streaks, now having not dropped a set in nine consecutive singles matches to improve to 21-0 between singles and doubles this season.
The reigning Jersey Mike's MAAC Rookie of the Week, Heath Paul Waters, picked up a straight-sets victory of his own by a score of 6-1, 7-5. Nathan Slattery extended his win streak in singles to nine behind a 6-2, 6-2 win. After earning a shutout victory in the first set, Axel Engstrom struggled in the second before rebounding to win 6-0, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5).
With the win, men's tennis have now won eight out of their last nine matches overall and have improved to 5-1 in conference play. The Broncs have two matches remaining, beginning with a road contest against Marist on Friday, and remain in contention for the regular season championship.
