WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - The Rider baseball team broke open a tight game with a five-run seventh inning and strong relief pitching to defeat Sacred Heart, 9–3, and secure the series victory.
The Broncs were quiet early before breaking through late in the game.
Charley Magoulick sparked the decisive seventh inning with a leadoff double, part of a three-hit day at the plate.
Matt Leahy followed with a two-run single to give Rider a 3–1 lead before
Erich Hartmann added to the advantage with a two-run double later in the frame, extending the lead to 5–1.
Anthony Paskell provided more separation in the eighth inning, blasting a three-run home run to push the Broncs' lead to 7–1.
On the mound,
PJ Craig was outstanding in relief, tossing six shutout innings to keep the Pioneers off the board and secure the series win for Rider.
