LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Men's Tennis swept the Niagara Purple Eagles Sunday afternoon, earning its second 7-0 victory of the month and securing its first win in MAAC play of the season.
The afternoon started with a pair of 6-1 victories in doubles, courtesy of Heath Paul Waters and Ibragim Turgambekov as well as Axel Engstrom and Roger Martinez. Mattheus Froberg Dahlin and Cole Thurgur were leading 4-3 in their match when the doubles point was secured, and the match went unfinished.
In singles, all six Broncs earned victories without dropping a set. Thurgur and Nathan Slattery extended their winning streaks, with Thurgur remaining unbeaten in singles this season after scoring a decisive 6-2, 6-1 victory. Slattery extended his singles win streak to five with a 6-2, 6-0 performance.
Earlier this season, the Broncs earned their first shutout win over a Division I opponent in sixteen years with a 7-0 win over Morgan State in Lakeland, Florida. This is Rider's first shutout win over a conference opponent since at least the 2007-08 season.
Men's Tennis returns to action with a non-conference home match against Villanova on April 1st.
