Groskritz, Reda-Fehsal Take MAAC Weekly Awards

Groskritz posted 0.47 ERA, Reda-Fehsal hit .636 with 8 RBI's as Broncs went 4-0

EDISON, NJ – Rider University softball graduate pitcher Anna-Marie Groskritz (Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) and sophomore first baseman Kendall Reda-Fehsal (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) have been named MAAC Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, the league office today announced. Groskritz won two games, added a save and posted a 0.47 ERA, while Reda-Fehsal hit .636 with eight RBI's as the Broncs went 4-0 on the week.

Groskritz was dominant this week, going 2-0 with a save in her three appearances, while allowing just one earned run for a 0.47 ERA. She struck out 23 batters in 15.0 innings pitched, including a career-high 11 in a one-hitter in Game 1 against Merrimack after tying her then career high with 10 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout on Wednesday at Mount St. Mary's. The lone earned run surrendered on the week came on a walk, fielder's choice in which the ball was cleanly fielded, but the fielder checked the runner one too many times and proceeded to shot late to first, and a bloop RBI single. Groskritz allowed just one other baserunner in the rest of the one-hitter on a hit-by-pitch.

Against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday, Groskritz scattered five without walking or hitting a batter, striking out 10. In addition, Groskritz came on with a one-run lead in the seventh inning of Game 2 against Merrimack and worked a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts, slamming the door on her first save of the season.

Reda-Fehsal hit safely in all four games this week, going 7-for-11 (.636) with two doubles, a home run, eight RBI's and three runs scored as the Broncs went 4-0 with doubleheader sweeps at Mount St. Mary's and vs. Merrimack. She had two-hit performances in three of four games and drove in at least one run in all four games, including a four-RBI performance as the Broncs erupted for a season-high 18 runs in Game 2 at Mount St. Mary's. Her two-out, two-run single was the difference in a 2-1 win over Merrimack in Game 1 on Sunday, while she also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in another one-run win in Game 2 vs. the Warriors.

The Broncs are in action today at 2 p.m. for a MAAC doubleheader vs. Marist. A three-game set at intrastate league foe Saint Peter's is set for Friday and Saturday in Jersey City.
