Five Broncs Set for NCAA Championships on Thursday

What You Need to Know
- Five Broncs will compete for the Rider wrestling team and look for National Titles this weekend with Sammy Alvarez, Enrique Munguia, Michael Wilson, Isaac Dean, and Brock Zurawski

NCAA History
- In 2024, Quinn Kinner became Rider's 20th All-American in school history, finishing eighth at 149 lbs.
- Ethan Laird finished 6th at the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships, becoming Rider's 19th All-American in program history
- Kinner became the ninth Rider All-American in the last ten seasons, including seven NCAA All-Americans and two NWCA All-Americans.
- In 2021, Rider University wrestling graduate student Jesse Dellavecchia became Rider's first-ever wrestler to advance to the National finals.

NCAA Championships Outlook 
Sammy Alvarez (149 lbs)

- Alvarez enters the national tournament as the No. 11 seed, posting a season record of 20-5. 
- Placed 6th at the Cliff Keen Invitational
- Defeated No. 8 Ty Whalen (Princeton)
- Finished 1st at the MAC Championships at 149 lbs
- Second year of experience at the NCAA Championships.

Enrique Munguia (165 lbs)
- First time at the national tournament 
- Munguia enters the tournament as the No. 22 seed, posting a season record of 22-6.
- Finished 1st at the 2025 MAC Championships at 165 lbs.
- Defeated No. 30 Aidan Riggins (Iowa State)

Michael Wilson (174 lbs)
- Enters the national championships as the No. 33 seed with a season record of 16-13.
- This is the second year of the NCAA Championships experience.
- Fourth at the 2025 MAC Championships at 174 lbs.
- 2024 NCAA Qualifier in Kansas City. 

Isaac Dean (184 lbs)
- First time at the national tournament. 
- Dean enters the championships as the No. 7 seed, posting an overall record of 24-7.
- First 1st at the 2025 MAC Championships at 184 lbs.
- Finished 5th at the Cliff Keen Invitational
- Notable wins over No. 11 Reece Heller (Pittsburgh), No. 8 Jaxon Smith (Maryland), and No. 5 Bennet Berge (South Dakota State).

Brock Zurawski (197 lbs)
- First-time national qualifier 
- Zurawski enters the tournament as the No. 26 seed, posting an overall record of 16-9.
- 2025 MAC Champion at 197 lbs
- Defeated No. 28 Tucker Hogan (Lock Haven) earlier this season.
