Baseball Drops Final Series Game Against Campbell

BUIES CREEK, NC – The Rider baseball started strong but couldn't hold on, dropping their final game of the weekend series against Campbell on Sunday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.

The Broncs got off to a hot start in the first inning with four hits and three runs. Matt Leahy led off with a double, setting the tone early. Erich Hartmann followed with a double of his own, bringing Leahy home. Joe Tiroly reached on a fielder's choice, moving Hartmann to third. Kyle Neri kept the momentum going with an RBI single to score Hartmann.

Nick Shuhet added another RBI single, bringing in Tiroly and giving Rider a quick 3-0 lead.

Campbell answered back in the second inning with three runs on four hits, tying the game.

Rider made a pitching change in the second, bringing in Kyle Batt to relieve Clayton Poliey after 1.1 innings. Campbell took the lead in the third with an RBI single from Darnell Parker Jr.

Jack Ruditzky took the mound for Rider in the fourth. The Broncs had a chance to rally in the sixth, loading the bases with one out, but Campbell escaped with a 4-6-3 double play.

Ruditzky pitched two innings before Frank Papeo came in for the bottom of the sixth, with Rider still trailing 5-3.
