LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – For the second time this season, the Rider wrestling team secured a 39-0 shutout victory over Cleveland State on Saturday afternoon in Alumni Gym.
Brock Zurawski got the Broncs on the board first at 197 lbs to start the dual earning a dominant 7-0 decision over Joey Lyons.
At 285
Collin French had a battle with Kaiden Haines. In the second period, Haines secured the takedown to make the score 3-1 but French earned the quick escape cutting the deficit 3-2. After a Haines escape in the final period, French earned a takedown of his own to claim the gritty 5-4 decision.
The Broncs got victories 125 lbs and 133 lbs from
Noah Michaels and
Will Betancourt.
Braden Palcko met with Ethan Mitchell at 141 lbs. A scoreless first period ended with a Palcko escape. Mitchell struck back with a quick six-point feet-to-back takedown for Mitchell to go up 6-1. The second period ended 6-2 with a Palcko escape. In the third period, Palcko put on an offensive explosion earning ten points with a feet-to-back takedown of his own to get the 12-8 comeback victory.

Sammy Alvarez and No. 26
Colton Washleski earned wins at 149 lbs and 157 lbs moving the team score to 26-0.
No. 30
Enrique Munguia and Tate Geiser needed extra time at 165 lbs. Munguia turned defense into offense securing the 6-3 sudden victory win.
Michael Wilson and No. 15
Isaac Dean secured the shutout for Rider each recording individual wins.
