EDINBORO, PA — The Rider University wrestling team secured a 24-12 victory over Edinboro on Friday night, with seven Broncs earning individual wins to contribute to the team's victory.
The match began at 174 lbs where
Michael Wilson got the Broncs on board first, securing a 11-1 major decision over Brody Evans.
At 184 lbs, No. 15
Isaac Dean faced a tough battle against Jared McGill. Tied at 5-5 after regulation, the match went into extra time. In the final seconds, Dean maintained an aggressive pace, securing a hard-fought 8-5 sudden victory.
The Broncs took care of business at 197 lbs and 125 lbs to move the team score to 15-4.
Will Betancourt had a tight match with No. 31 Colton Camacho. Camacho struck first in the second period earning an escape after choosing the bottom position. Two stall warnings from Betancourt made the deficit to 2-0. Betancourt earned a reversal after choosing the final period in the bottom position to even up the bout. An escape and riding time point was awarded to Camacho to sneak out with the 4-2 victory.
Rider controlled the final three bouts of the night with No. 12
Sammy Alvarez, No. 26
Colton Washleski, and No. 30
Enrique Munguia all earning victories.
