LEXINGTON, KY – Teagan Schein-Becker won the third heat of the 1,500-meters at the NCAA East Regional Thursday afternoon, advancing to the quarterfinals Saturday where a trip to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, OR on the line. Scein-Becker posted a winning time of 4:22.03.
Schein-Becker stayed near the front of the pack sitting second following the first 300 meters before sliding back to sixth in a tightly bunched field at the 700-meter mark. From there, Schein-Becker took control of the race, posting the fastest split over the next 400 meters to surge into the lead. The graduate-student continued to pull away across the final 400 meters, posting the fastest split in the field for the final lap to cross the finish line first.
