WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider University Women's Tennis wrapped up the 2024 season, falling at Monmouth, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 4-14, while the Hawks improved to 3-14.
In doubles play,
Sofia Gutierrez (Miami, FL/Palmetto Senior) and
Andrea Sydow (Las Querenzas, Mexico/Prepa Net ITESM) earned a 6-1 win over Nikita Girish and Madison Mills at No. 1. But the Hawks would take the remaining two doubles flights and the point.
Agnese Ceccarelli (Arezzo, Italy/Liceo Classico Francesco Petrarca) and
Laila Fishman (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) were narrowly defeated at No. 2, 7-6, by Lana Brezanin and Hana McKinney.
The Hawks then took all six singles flights to complete the 7-0 match victory. Fishman and
Samantha Killin (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) came closest to victories at Nos. 1 and 5, respectively. Fishman fell to Brezanin, 7-5, 6-4, while Killin fell to Lauren Landstrom, 7-5, 6-3.
