Young Named MAAC Pitcher of the Week

Young goes 2-0 on the weekend vs Quinnipiac earned MAAC weekly honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University junior pitcher Brian Young (Neptune, NJ/ Communication HS) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon following a pair of strong showings in Rider's series sweep over Quinnipiac.

For Young, it is his first Pitcher of the Week honor of his career after being named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team last season. Young started his impressive week coming out of the bullpen in game two pitching 1.1 scoreless innings helping the Broncs secure the game two win over the Bobcats. Young's best outing came on Sunday going five innings allowing only one earned run, and tallying a season and career-best seven strikeouts in the win. Young would get the result in both games going 2-0 on the weekend with a 1.42 ERA combined.

Rider returns to action later on today at 3:00 PM vs Villanova to open up Liberty Bell Classic Action and continues MAAC play vs Saint Peters this weekend March 27-29.
