EDISON, NJ – After one of its most-successful seasons in program history, the Rider University baseball team earned a single first-place vote and was selected fourth ahead of the 2024 season in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll. Junior Pitcher
Brian Young also earned Preseason All-MAAC Team honors.
The three-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion, Fairfield, was selected as the favorite, earning five of the 11 coaches first-place votes. The Stags were followed by Quinnipiac with 96 points and a pair of first-place votes as well as Canisius with 91 points and two first-place votes.
Following Rider, Manhattan earned the remaining first-place vote, finishing fifth in the poll. Niagara was selected as the remaining MAAC Tournament team by the league's coaches. Mount St Mary's, Marist, Iona, Siena, and Saint Peter's round out the poll.
The lone Bronc on this year's Preseason All-MAAC team was junior pitcher
Brian Young. Young was stellar down the stretch last season, as in his final three starts he went 19.2 innings with 14 strikeouts and a 1.41 ERA, including 7.1 innings and four strikeouts vs Fairfield in the MAAC Tournament, being named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team.
The Broncs' season begins Friday when the team travels to North Carolina for a season-opening series with #13 East Carolina.
