LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team won both meets as part of a tri-match Saturday afternoon, defeating Siena 171-125, and Sacred Heart 162-137. The Broncs improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Saints are now 3-6 and the Pioneers are now 5-4.
The Bronc women won nine events in the meet.
Rider started the day with a win in the 200-medley relay.
Casey Morgan (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.),
Allison Stewart (Newtown Square, PA/Lower Merion),
Hannah Yemec (Bluffton, SC/May River), and
Connar Melcher (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) stopped the clock at 1:48.73, winning by over a full second.
Casey McLaughlin (Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) and
Megan Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth Academy) then finished one-two in the 1,000-free, touching the wall at 10:35.86 and 11:07.97. McLaughlin also swam 5:12.47 to win the 500-free, then 4:38.58 for a winning swim in the 400-IM.
Rider had another strong finish in the 100-back with Morgan and
Jenna Kirby (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) swimming 57.98 and 59.80 for the one-two finish. Morgan completed the backstroke sweep winning the 200- in 2:08.00.
Stewart got an individual win in the 100-breast, stopping the clock at 1:07.49.
Suriyathai Pathammavong (Rochester, NY/Churchville Chili) won the 200-breast, winning the tightest event with a time of 2:28.71, just three hundredths of a second ahead of second place.
Yemec won the 100-free with a winning swim of 58.79.
