PISCATAWAY, N.J – Tyler Klinsky scored a massive upset over #2 Dean Peterson, however, The Rider University Wrestling team fell in their in-state matchup with #14 Rutgers 31-5 on Sunday afternoon. With the loss the Broncs drop to 2-4 and the Scarlet Knights move to 7-1.
The Broncs' biggest win of the day came from Senior 125-pounder
Tyler Klinsky who scored the highest upset victory of his career, taking down 2023 NCAA Qualifier and #2 ranked wrestler at 125 Dean Peterson. Peterson controlled the first period taking a 5-1 advantage with 1:44 seconds of riding time after the first three minutes. However, Klinsky would fire back in the second period scoring a takedown and a reversal in the middle frame to tie things at 5 all. The Middletown NJ native would follow a good second period up with another impressive final period taking down Peterson 9-6 to kick off the dual. For Peterson it is his first loss of the season and his first loss in a dual since February 12th of 2023.
The Broncs struggled overall to pick up victories as their only other win came from #32
Colton Washleski. Washleski would also take down a nationally ranked foe in #33 Andrew Clark, making it back-to-back victories for Washleski over the Scarlet Knights 157-pounder.
