What You Need To Know
- The Rider University women's soccer team opens up the 2023 season squaring off with the Wagner College Seahawks. 
- The Broncs open the year with matchups with NEC opponents at home with Wagner (8/17) and LIU (8/20). 
- Rider finished last season 8-7-3 and 5-5 in MAAC play clinching a post-season bid however falling to 5th-seeded Canisius in the opening round by PKs
-  The Broncs return eight starters from 2022 including Sciancalepore, Hannah Freeman, Genevieve Ryan, Karagh Tait, Emma Cordero, Samantha Sharrocks, Olivia Smith, and Leonor Alves.

History vs Wagner
- The Broncs and Seahawks are meeting for the 13th time since 1998 and the Broncs currently hold an 8-4-0 lead in the overall series history between the two.
- Last year Rider took down Wagner 3-2 in the season-opening matchup from Hamline Field. 
- The series in Lawrenceville has been more evenly matchup with the two sharing a 3-3-0 record at Ben Cohen Field since 98.

History vs. LIU
- Rider and LIU split four meetings from the Broncs' inaugural season of 1997 through 2004. All four meetings came against the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, prior to the merger of the LIU Brooklyn and CW Post athletic departments.
- The women's soccer program at LIU has now migrated from Brooklyn to Brookville, NY, home of the former NCAA Division II LIU CW Post, where current Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome led the Pioneers for seven years, culminating with an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2007. 


The Sciancalepore Report
- Rider was highlighted by Preseason All-MAAC selection Ellie Sciancalepore, as they were picked to finish fifth in the MAAC by the league's coaches. Quinnipiac is the preseason favorite, receiving 6 of 11 first-place votes and 115 points. 
-Sciancalepore, was a massive bright spot for the Broncs last year earning a First Team All-MAAC selection, and winning the MAAC Golden Glove award for top Keeper in the conference. Sciancalepore posted a 1.32 GAA and an .829 save percentage with six shutouts playing every minute of every game the Broncs played in 2022.
- Scaincalepore was also named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week twice a season ago. 

Not So Cruel Summer
- In 2022, the Broncs sported a 3-1-0 record in the month of August starting the season with three straight wins vs Wagner, Villanova, and Delaware St.
- In the final full summer month the Broncs outscored their opponents 10-5 including a pair of shutouts vs the Wildcats and Hornets. 
- Rider Brings back only one top-five goal scorer from 2022 in Logan Racine who finished 2022 with a pair of goals in 12 games.
- Racine did score in both opening contests last year including the game-winner vs. Wagner in Staten Island.

Keeping Tradition
- Rider women's soccer looks to make the postseason for an 11th straight season, the Broncs are looking for their first MAAC title since 2014.
- Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome returns for his 15th season, having compiled 120 wins in his time at the helm.
