Lawrenceville, NJ - Rider's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) presented its annual SAAC ESPYs Awards on Sunday, April 30 in the Bart Luedeke Center Cavalla Room. The SAAC ESPY's, a culmination of the year in Rider Athletics, highlights the accomplishments of teams and individuals in a variety of categories.
Nominations were submitted by student-athletes in each of the categories to determine the finalists in each category. Once those finalists were established by the SAAC executive board with assistance from athletics administrators, votes were cast by each team's SAAC representatives. To maintain integrity in the voting, each team was given two votes per category, but SAAC reps were not permitted to vote for their team or teammates.
Additionally, live voting took place in the categories of Best Dressed Male, Female, and Team where attendees utilized a QR code to submit their choices.
"The SAAC ESPYs is such a great way for us to highlight peer-to-peer recognition of the accomplishments of our student-athletes all year long," said
Karin Torchia, senior associate director of athletics/SWA. "I commend our SAAC executive board, especially President
Makenzie Rodrigues and Vice President
Danielle Tyson, who worked tirelessly all year to organize a wonderful event for our student-athletes.
Liz Sapudar, coordinator of academics for athletics, has provided SAAC with tremendous guidance since she came on board in November and helped them make this event even more memorable."
