ORLANDO, FL –
Nathan Slattery (Nenagh, Ireland),
Dhruv Tangri (Punjab, India/Cambridge International School),
Roger Martinez (Girona, Spain/Saint George's School) and
Jaime de Jaraiz (Las Rosas, Spain/Rafa Nadal International School) won twice each as the Rider University men's tennis team swept Wisconsin-Superior, 7-0, Thursday morning. With the win, the Broncs improve to 4-6, while the Yellowjackets fell to 12-2.
The Broncs swept the doubles point with Slattery and Tangri defeating Andre Guedes and Igor Chaves, 6-1, at No. 1,
Dylan Lachmanen (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) and
Jake Grimes (Atlanta, GA/Johnson Ferry Christian Academy) earning a 6-0 win over Jacob Zacharias and Ren Kurachi at No. 2 and Martinez and de Jaraiz getting past Benedek Kaibas and Miranda Silvestre, 6-4, at No. 3.
Slattery made quick work of Chaves, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Tangri similarly got past Kurachi, 6-1, 6-0. Martinez also lost just one game in a 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3, while
Stavros Hadjivarnava (Moutagiaka, Cyrus/British College of Gava) picked up a 6-3, 6-2, win over Zacharias at No. 4.
Pablo Salar Carrera (Barcelona, Spain IES Jaume Balmes) blanked Kei Sato at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0, while de Jaraiz rounded out the victory with a 6-0, 6-4, win over Kaibas at No. 6.
The Broncs return to action Wednesday, when they travel to Temple for a 3 p.m. first serve.
